The Rectory, a pizzeria founded by the owners of The Congregation coffee shop and restaurant in Detroit's Boston-Edison neighborhood, opened Sunday with a soft launch.
The pizzeria is operating out of a former 2,000-square-foot home at 1920 Atkinson, next to The Congregation, a coffee shop and restaurant that opened in a former historic church in 2020.
Crain's Detroit Business reports that the owners have sunk about $2 million into the project.
On Instagram, the The Rectory posted:
Surprise! You're invited to our limited opening, THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 8! As we wait on a few small details to fully open our doors, we'll be opening our front window for carryout orders only from a limited menu. See you Sunday starting at 11am until we sellout!
P.S. Stay tuned as we open up for limited days and times throughout June. For this pop-up style soft opening model, we'll be featuring a few of our signature pies as well as a rotating salad to start. Guests will be able to walk up to the window, order take out, and enjoy their pizza in our greenspace.
