The 38-year-old Detroit City Council president will marry Rickey Jackson Jr., who works for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan as the program manager of Project Play, according to his LInkedin page.

Sheffield has kept the wedding plans and her private life under wraps.

In an Oct. 30 story in the Detroit Free Press, Violet Ikonomova wrote:

Sheffield wears an engagement ring, but says she’ll share more about that after the election.

Her chief of staff did not respond for comment.

Sheffield, who has served 12 years on Detroit City Council, was elected mayor in a landslide in November, beating Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr., with 77 percent of the vote.
